Paul and Dennis Campbell

Paul Campbell, who operates a backhoe, and his son, Dennis, a self-taught helicopter pilot, designed and built the new Whitetail Deer Drive from Highway 321 to the Lodge. The road proved to be an achievement of skill and daring. Extensive foundation work and landscaping have been achieved in excellence by the Campbells over the whole property. The Campbells are probably descended from William Campbell, who in October of 1780 led his Virginia Overmountain Men from the Watauga settlements to a dramatic victory at the Battle of King's Mountain.
